I have to websites hosted on powweb. In the beginning, everything was quite smooth and technical support was very responsive..

But, in the last month or so, things that really gone downhill, it seems. my Websites are hosted on separate servers, yet they have had many hours of downtime just in the last couple of weeks. Also, technical support has gone nuts.... No replies sometimes, bad advice, wrong advice, and even refusing advice concerning their server setup which I needed to know in order to format my .htaccess file correctly...

Anyone else had any problems with them lately?
I suspect that their heavy promotion lately has caused some overcrowding problems on their servers

I'm a moderator on Powweb's user forums. The user forums are about the only thing running today. Certainly no user sites are.

I am hoping that past experience (with other hosts) does not repeat itself. In other words, service goes exponentially downhill, followed by a steep price increase for those that stick with them.

In the (I hope) unlikely event that this is happening, they will need another moderator or two as well.

I neglected to update ppl on this situation. The technical problems at Powweb on Feb. 9-11 were cleared up by midafternoon EST on Feb. 11 and there have been no significant outages since then.

Powweb has also doubled the webspace (to 200MB) and e-mail accounts (to 100 POP/SMTP) for all customers, both old and new.

I have been sitting here for over an hour now - waiting for powweb to come back up - nothing works and i mean NOTHING - no website, no ftp, no ops-control-panel, no email, no powweb.com website for christ sake, what is going on????

I hope they aint gone bust!

grr - and i was actualy here to praise them - and yes as luck would have it - they go down as i'm cruising the forum.

i wouldn't mind if i could comunicate with someone but i cant even get any email so there is no point in even contacting support and there is no way i'm calling them from the UK.

plus it is 10 to midnight GMT Sunday 15/09/02 - so i doubt i'm gonna get much more done today.

Always the way - you get a brainstorm - have all these wonderful ideas you've been mulling over all day - in a steady, actionable, focused train of thought and then when you go to apply them......SOD IT!

Looks like the entire powweb network, including all servers, has been down for many hours so far...

PowWeb sucks a big one. See my thread where I told my whole story about these scumbags which I linked below.

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=69092

Also, my chargebacks were credited to my bank account on Friday I belive, so my story with them ends. But I would recommend that you move your websites as soon as possible to a place that is more responsive to thier customers.
