View Full Version : Questions on Google Page Rank...

I have a few questions about Google's page ranking(s).

1 - how often does this get updated? is it a monthly thing? is this information that they even let the public know about?

2 - I have had an offer in another forum from a PR5 site with 50,000 + pages/links in Google. It has numerous PR4 pages.
They are looking for someone to provide hosting for them, and in return I would get a text link at the bottom of those pages.

There appears to be about 25 text links at the bottom of the page(s). They are looking for ~4 gig disk, and ~100 gig bandwidth per month for this link. And WHM, so it looks like they want to be able to create other hosts also? why else would they need WHM?

My site right now is a PR1. I imagine this would bump me up in the rankings quickly, but I am not sure. Also, it would cost me another $20 a month as I would have to upgrade the next level reseller plan.

My question is this: is this worth it? would this be something you would do? I know $20 is not bad for a monthly text link on a site like this, but to be stuck on the bottom of the page with 20+ other links?

Is this something I should do or should I just run from this as fast as I can?

Thanks
Charles

If the are looking for ~4 gig disk, and ~100 gig they probably have few sites and some decent traffic on them. You need to check how much resources they use. If the forum is busy it will use a lot of mysql and your reseller account may be in japardy along with the server you are hosting on.

It's probably worth it if you had a dedicated server and be able to see and control what they're doing, otherwise you might see you account suspended "due to resource abuse", cpu usagae caused by mysql being one of them.

It's worth a shot if you are carefull basically, these days however you can buy a Pr5 ROS link or homepage link for even $10 to $15/m without having to offer hosting :)

Pagerank is not its all cracked up to be - moreso recently with the changes google has made.

I would keep an eye on google and see what works and what doesnt before going for any long term commitments.

Cheers,
Rob.

Check out the site at www.alexa.com I personally think they have a better ratings system then Google does.
