View Full Version : Idle Rackshack.net Server

I've just purchased a Rackshack.net server for testing and everything is working great so far, no problems with the server. Everything has been configured, and after the testing it is completely free for use. There's a full 18GB of hard disk space left (after the OS, Ensim appliance etc), and also the full 300GB of bandwidth a month. It's an AMD Ensim server, so it has a control panel with it.

I just wanted to do some quick testing with the OS/Ensim, but now that that is complete, I have an empty server ready for use (after spending the whole day to configure it).

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can now use the server for?

Anyone interested in hosting on the server (you make up your own hosting package spec)? Or are there enough charity websites out there that need hosting?

If you're interested and not gonna be using, I might be able to pick the whole server from you. Can rackshack do transfers?

Just thought of another option... if anyone would like this server at say $150 a month, with no setup fees then I could probably do that too. The server is an AMD Duron 1GHz with 1GB of RAM, 20GB hard drive, 300GB bandwidth (Time Warner GB Link, Verio OC3, Savvis OC3, ELI DS3 and Cogent GB), with Ensim software.

I'll be very selective as to who I give this server to as I am not prepared to spend day and night to give support, so you should have basic Linux experience already, or experience with Ensim. The server is all setup, it is not like getting a server directly from RS, as I have already fixed all bugs and configured it, so it is all healthy. I will provide support via e-mail and ICQ/MSN if needed. I do not specialize in web hosting, I have been administrating web servers for 3 years now, and you will be the only client, so you'll get all the attention :).

P.S. I am able to accept all major credit/debit cards as payment, via WorldPay.

AbbasJaffarali, I'm not sure if servers can be transferred, but I don't see why I can't just change the ownership details in the members area to your details. How much you willing to offer for the server? PM me.
