I'm looking at various resellers, mchost.com, splashhost.com, donhost.com, etc. I've looked in the archive and there's been good raves around mchost and splashhost.com.

However, my question is how long have these companies been in business doing reselling accounts and how many accounts have these companies signed up since they started, by month or what have you.

I want to get a good feel on who's got more people, which means better service provided and if they been in business longer, it's a good feeling to have that they know their equipment rather than some new company jumping on the bandwagon trying to get better rates, but don't give good support.

You've probably also seen some bad comments about Donhost.com then... :)

Just remember that more customers does not necessarily mean better service, it could simply be better marketing budget / better marketing or a raft of other things, but I'm sure you've already thought of that.

MCHost has been around since about July 2001 and has had from what I understand, a BUNCH of signups since then :)

I believe Splash Host have been around quite a bit longer than that, but I don't know the date, nor how many customers they have. This is of course quite often sensitive information that companies aren't willing to share.

Also, you wouldn't have read so many good things about the companies, if they didn't give good support.

I think it's safe to say neither of these companies are 'jumping on the bandwagon'. It is in fact a lot of the older more established companies that you can be well advised to steer clear of (i'm sure you'll find a few horror stories here by searching hehe).

It's much better to have fast, personal service than be eternally stuck in some massive corporation's trouble ticket system or hold queue :D
