Which data center are you located in? The ping seems to be very jumpy, any reason why?

It is located in Wiznet's data centre. Regarding the jumpy, it depends on your network.

Rogers in Toronto routes all the traffic to Chicago and then NY then back to Bell Nexxia. If you are on Bell, the ping will be much stable.

I noticed that. Very disapointing on Rogers' part. A lot of companies like yourselves are being affected by Rogers' poor routing.

Actually i know a senior rogers techie. by routing to the states, it is much cheaper for them, since they use multi OC48s

Are you sure its not the other way around and Bell is the one who has the bad routing?

I know users of Bell's Sympatico Internet in my area (about 2 hours from Toronto) receive better pings to Texas than to any East Coast Canada facilities, but rogers clients tend to ping Toronto with sub 25ms Pings...

I'll see if I can get my hands on some traces Monday.

Would also be a general assumption considering that Rogers peers @ Torix (as does Wiznet Inc.) but Bell doesn't.

bell has very restrictive peering policies within canada. rogers and other providers are forced to work around that by offloading bell-destined traffic in the US where they can obtain reasonably priced transit from carriers who bell peers with (by virtue of them not competing with bell in the canadian market).

That's always been the impression i've been under...

It's most unfortunate really... yet another reason why outsourcing to US based providers is becoming more and more popular.
