I have two problems on RAQ4

1. On site settings I have
HOST : WWW
Web Server Aliases : mydomain.com

but when I enter mydomain.com in to Email Server Aliases it keeps going blank and does not save!!

The big picture is this.

I have a DNS record where :

www.mydomain.com point to another IP
mydomian.com points to the RAQ4
MX record points to the RAQ4.

I have also set up a site www.mydomian.com on the raq to handle the emails (settings above) under which I have placed a user account with catch all email.

web surfers to www.mydomain.com go to the right server but emails are by passing the user account and dropping down to the admin account.

I have tried using mail.mydomian.com but the same this happens. The only thing I am left with is that it is a problem with the Email Aliases as mentioned above.

Any thoughts out there!!

I am tearing my hair out here.....

I just can't understand why the Email Aliases box keeps going blank on the site settings screen.

I just can't understand why the Email Aliases box keeps going blank on the site settings screen. This may be the solution: When I first went to a 4i from a 3 I had problems getting mail set up correctly, it stemmed from having it set in the site settings and then way over in control panel.. For instance, if you've got the following in your site settings..

host- www
domain- domain.com
server alias- domain.com
email alias- domain.com

In the control panel, email parameters, you need to have the accept mail for domain as www.domain.com NOT domain.com....

I had it happening the other way around when I was trying to do it, I had www.domain.com set in site settings and could not get the email parameters settings to hold, I suspect it's the same thing happening ony backwards..

If you try to do it any other way, your catchall alias will not work and you'll get an excessive recurision message.. or some error message.. (tired can't remember exactly)

The old way, the way the RaQ3 did it was a lot easier.. You just checked "accept email for domain" in site settings and then added both www.domain and domain in the parameter (control panel) settings..

Hope that helps

Thanks, here is some extra info.

Email Server Settings

Host/Domain Aliases = www.mydomain.com

My DNS for this site is

www.mydomain.com > IP ADDRESS (not that of RAQ)
mydomain.com > IP ADDRESS (RAQ)
www.mydomain.com mail is sent to the High priority mail server www.mydomain.com

I have also tried it with
mydomain.com mail is sent to the High priority mail server www.mydomain.com

but still no joy!

O.k.

I have done some more testing and here are the results.

Emails sent to person@www.mydomian.com go the right box
Emails sent to person@mydomian.com are accepted by the server but vanish (they don't even go to admin - is there a postmaster account somewhere? If so, how do i access it?)

The logical thought is that the mydomain.com must be entered into the Email Server aliases box under the site settings but it just won't let me do it.

www.mydomain.com is listed as an alias under the Email Server aliases on the Control Panel.

OK, I have managed to solve this one now.

I had to delete the site (SSH in a do it properly) and then re-create it from scratch.

Thanks for all of the ........ help?
