Hi!

I've been posting a couple of newbie questions the last couple of weeks, but I've received a lot of help - so thx for that!

Under a month ago I had no idea that I wanted to build a web site - now I'm hooked.

I've certainly understood that you've got to put a lot of faith in your host. They shouldn't be too new (risky start ups), not too established (too big - terrible support), the price should be right.... The list goes on and on....

I've been looking into Myacen, since I've seen a lot of good things about them (Robert's been answering my questions fast on their forum and on PM).

My dilemma is I'm stuck between two of their plans:

Homestead ($49.95/100MB/10GB transfer), and

Business ($79.95/250MB/15GB)

$50/year is my limit for what I can pay (cheap? Sure! Student...)

I could use more than 100MB of storage, but 15GB is WAY too much bandwidth, 3-4GB would be more like it. Basically I need the space to store quit a large amount of files in a protected directory (research papers).

So - and this is a call for help - are there any solid, trustworthy hosts out there that can offer 200MB for this kind of money?

thx,
biosphere

I believe he can customize a plan for you.

Let's say, 250MB, 5GB for $50 per year.

Hehe, myacen, can you do that?

By the way, how to pronouce myacen and what does it mean?

Hi!

First - ebird:
I really wouldn't want this to be understood as a challenge to Myacen. I'm not writing this to "pressure" them into giving me a special deal. In reality, I'm pretty sure I'll sign up for one of their accounts anyway:) (Robert seems like a nice guy...) The reason I named the thread the way I did is that it gives some indication of what I'm looking for in a hosting service.

What I was trying to say was that it can be really hard to find the "best" host since it all boils down to the issue of trust. If my only concern was price, it would be quite easy to find a host, but I would like to find the right one. Initially I was looking for a "major" hosting service, but the prices are way out of my league. And then I started looking in the Bargain Basement, and it felt totally confusing.

wadearnold - thx for the reply, but those prices are not compatible with my financial situation at all...;)
