Does anyone use plesk ?

I have tried the demo but..

From the point of view of my customer..
They can only administer their e-mail and (if I want) their dns.

They cannot do anything else.

Is this right ?

Thank you

Have you done a search in the forums for Plesk? I believe a few comments have popped up..... (Search button is in the top right corner)

Plesk was supposed to releasing a new version way back in August, but I guess it slipped. According to what they say, it is supposed to have some cool new features, but I don't know of anyone who has seen it yet. I would like to see it myself, so if anyone has any info, that would be great. The current version, though, already allows all sorts of things, if I remember right. FTP, subdomains and things like that.

its already supports ftp and subdomains and the last release was released on time. Plesk is having another new release the second week of december and it will support E-Commerce, Billing, and many other improvements.

sounds good. For a company that has been around for about a year now, Plesk has been expanding very rapidly. I can't wait till they release their two other planned products.

I really dont like Plesk.. It runs slow on my server (unless its the server itself)

The product which will provide billing, domain reg and e-commerce stuff is called PSA+ (Plesk's Server Administrator).

AFAIK PSA 1.3.1 is in beta and will be released soon.
Notice: PSA 1.3.1 will only be available for FreeBSD 4.x and RH7 at first stage. So if you wanna upgrade, you'll have to wait another one and a half month or so.

New features PSA 1.3.1:

- Autoresponder
- mod_perl
- mod_throttle(in Apache)
- PHP4
- reconfigurator script for changing primary IP and admin info
- Entire top Frame availalble for branding now
- Apache "include directive" to allow changes to httpsd.conf to be unchanged when creating a new domain

Hi,

I would like to know one thing. Is it possible to change the ServerAlias settings in httpsd.conf for a domain without it being automaticaly deleted?

I think Plesk should allow one to define more than one alias per domain besides www, for example, test.domain.com or even *.domain.com.
It's just a matter of messing around with ServerAlias definition but it's not supported in Plesk's last version.

Thanks

Mirco, what do you mean with "PHP4" ?
Doesn't actual PSA support php4 ?

Thanks

PSA 1.3.0 comes with PHP 3.0.15

kaos:

There are two files vhost.conf and vhosts_ssl.conf in a directory which only root has access to. I think there you would be able to add directives etc.

The newest version being released in a few days has 4 though

Well, I just hope that "include directive" allows for more flexibility on the ISP side. Though I think it should be integrated in the Control Panel itself.

I forgot to mention that Plesk PSA+ will cost $99 one time fee.

CPanel's $250/month can't just beat it.

Plesk=love

The new version is pretty cool (Plesk v.5.0 ), you can also manage multiples servers using Master access when available.

I have been selling this product like crazy, I have a server myself for testing purposes so I believe they are on the right path.
