We're switching our monitoring service to our own monitoring programs. I'm currently using Alertra, but I'm looking at either
1) Midas: http://midas-nms.sourceforge.net
or
2) Hybodus http://www.hybodus.com/products/1
I'm having trouble logging into Midas after installing on a CentOS 3.3 system (heard a user fixed that by reverting to rh 9, which is not an option for us)
Hybodus, on the other hand is a paid product ($200). It has everything we need. I don't mind spending the extra money for a support piece of software, but before I order this, does anyone else have a recommendation for a monitoring system?

Whats Up Gold only runs on Windows. As others have stated check out Nagios and Big Brother. Another network monitoring package is ipAlert, although I'm having trouble finding information on it. We've been evaluating InterMapper (http://www.intermapper.com/index.html) from Dartware, although it's a little expensive.

Ronny,
I have used Hybodus and it's and extremely good product. They are up to date on new features and they keep adding new items every week. I actually plan on buying a copy to use 24/7 (my copy was a trial which they extended for me to review).
They are also very helpful. If needed they can call you, well they did for me. The only draw back is getting NET-SNMP to work. I had a few issues on 2 servers.

I checked out Hybodus and it looked really good, do you know if it has a feature to produce stats on a public page so clients can see them as well ?

Funny you ask that because I was just checking their change log for the latest version since this is something I suggested to them many builds ago.
Answer: I don't know.

Just an update; I spoke to them on the phone and had a fun chat...great guys!
Anyways they now have a RSS feed which basically allows you to pull anything you want out of the system and display it on your website.
