For people who have had a lot of experience with Bulletin Board Systems, what do you think is the most secure PHP-based system? Whether you think it is secure out of the box, or can be modified to be secure?

I think vB is the most secure out of box, they had a professional security company go though it, which I'm pretty sure that free boards can't afford.....

If you really want it secure, I've done a few forums with .htaccess, by password protecting it, and limiting it by IP...

I would definitely say VBulletin, we have also been watching OpenBB and PHPBB as well they seem fairly secure also however the sure bet would be VBulletin.

Really? I've never heard about the professional security company going through the code and I'm a vB customer lol :D

Where did you hear about this?

The mods have stated it on their forums before, that they had an outside group of people look though the 2.x series for security holes......

I know who ya are, I've seen ya many times :D
