i work for community college and my boss is looking for a web publishing/management tool that allows users to create or update a web page, then it would sit in some kind of queue for review by division deans first, then be sent to us at media services for final check before being published.

i think it is a shame and a travisity that he wants that much control over instructors and department deans' publishing rights. we are an institution of (semi) higher education darnit! but alas, my piddly opinion doesn't mean anything. ;)

if anyone knows where i could find, test, buy, and/or get made a program like this, i will bow at your feet! ok, maybe not, but i'll say thank you a lot! :D



p.s. an example of something we are looking for can be found at http://active-publisher.com but we are on a unix system and this program doesn't seem to have the queueing capabilities my boss wants. thanks again.

Since you're working on a *nix system, you might want to consider some of the 'Content Management' systems available in Perl or PHP that may do what you want. Start off at http://www.hotscripts.com and search through the two languages - it should probably turn up around 3 or 4 systems that may be suitable for you.

i'll do that. i think the hardest thing to accomplish is the multi level approvals before publishing step, but yanno... :)
