Hi there

We have a server with CPanel on it at the moment. The people we are with have suddenly gotten really bad at support. How easy is it to move all my accounts on one CPanel server to another company with CPanel? I want this to be a seamless operation if I go ahead with it and want to make sure that permissions, databases, username, passwords, emails etc are maintained. Can this be done? How long will it take and does anyone have any suggestions? I want a ded server company that supports CPanel and who will help us out when necessary (not two weeks later for emergency issues)

Any suggestions

Who are you currently hosting with? Have you tried rackshack.net? My server is being setup tommorow.

how many customers you talking about?

If you dont have root on either server, its pretty hard, theres a few feature that Cpanel just released that would allow you to simply provide the remote login info and the user name and it moves everything in one shot

If you dont have cpanel, then next best thing is to go into shell, in each users directory, just tar it up and ftp it, and untar it (after the acct is created)

Now I am curious who your cpanel server is with. I am having big problems with a certain provider as well as of late with no email replies in 2+ weeks and I did not want to open a thread on it, but now that I hear this I am curious.

Well, basically I want to give the company the opportunity to talk to me about the situation and at the moment I wouldn't feel comfortable giving this information out in a public domain. Maybe it is just a blip (but a big one at that) and they may have issues that I am not aware of. However, some of my clients are really angry about the situation and it is giving me sleepless nights thinking that I could lose these clients - that is why I need a provider that can deliver Cpanel support when necessary and other support too if it needs it. We can do nearly everything on the server ourselves, but when allocated IP addresses have already been taken it is an embarrassing situation. There's loads more stuff (Apache going down ever 15 minutes or so) and nobody at support has got back to us.

SO, if anyone knows of a good Cpanel-friendly dedicated server company I'd be interested in hearing from them

Gary at www-hosting has a cpanel move script he made since he's done quite a few moves. Send an email to him and see whether he'll help you out for a fee.

As for a good dedicated host who supports cpanel, try Ventures Online. They have awesome support and respond in a very timely manner.
