Ok got a odd qustion here.. I have checked out gearhosts ite to see there CP they sell..
One thing that gets me is iControl the name.. TWC has a service called iControl for cable. I know they are not the same services but is it safe to name something the same name like that?
gearhost.com = iControl = Control Panel
TWC = iControl = some kind of cable service.
Just thought i would ask. Not sure how this works.

GH, was promoting Icontrol prior to TWC.
TWC might have had the concept and or name of Icontrol somewhere but GH was using it first in it business practises.
Hope this helps.

We are working on the patents to the iControl branded name for GearHost, while the name cannot be protect it's topic of business is and will be. It's not a big deal that iControl might and probably be used by other companies but in web hosting we will own the trademark, etc.
What a process though, taking every bit of hard work, over 320,000 lines of source code, dozens of design documents, etc ... makes me cringe. Oh well that's me I guess ... I started the initial programming of almost 90% of iControl and still lead the development. I guess you could say I'm a little protective of it ;).

I just saw the thing on my cable said iControl and just got to thinking was not sure how that all worked with names like that..
So if we wanted to come out with CP name Lattitude just like the DELL Laptop since its not in web hosting could we do that?
The only problem i thought about with iControl is yes it is a diffrent thing but TWC also does like web hosting telco stuff as well..

Trademark issues aren't always cut-n-dry. If you wanted to introduce a cp called Lattitude, you probably could without worry. Small sample of just a web-based google search for the term 'iControl' ... http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=iControl&btnG=Google+Search

Oh my god, 320K lines of code is a LOT of code, especially considering you coded 90% of it. It seems I have been coding our own control panel forever but it only has 120K lines of code. :)
I've seen your iControl, and it is very nice, keep up the good work ryan.
