Hi, how about this:

>> Msg from 2checkout:
You have a new subscription:
Mr xxx,
Email: .....@hotmail.com
Address: [....] Novosibirsk, Russian Federation
---
I send an email asking for his info...he replies
---
>> Msg from ....@hotmail.com:
Hi, my domain is zzzz.org
My name is: Mr yyy,
Address: [....] Atlanta, GA - USA
---
WTF? OK, let's check with whois: hmm... Novosibirsk, Russian Federation...
---
I send an email back:

Hi,
prior to setting up your account, do you mind my asking how come your billing/domain registration is different from the one you sent in your confirmation message? (Russia vs USA).

I am sure you'll understand we have to protect ourselves and our clients from possible internet fraud, nothing personal.

Best regards,
[...]
---
His reply:

I do mind. Is it a problem for you?

Cheers
---
My reply:

Andrew,
sorry there must be a misunderstanding.
Is the reason for these discrepancies to be a personal matter?
If you are uncomfortable with answering such a routine question, we can refund you, it's not a problem.

Regards,
[...]
---
His final reply:

Please do

Bye

Well, hence my question(s): I am insane? What's going on?

That's easy: Fraud.

Yeah,
but isn't fraud more likely to be made using an american credit card, instead of a russian one and pretending to be an American..?

I'm puzzled.

2checkout I presume. Not sure where the second "o" comes in though.

interesting.

Seems like a fraudster who's too lazy to come up with a good lie. Well easy enough to toss into the trash I suppose. :)

/\ Hah...I /was/ puzzled, obviously. Event this title is odd.

2checkout: I don't know, we've already had several fraudsters thru them...

I can't imagine what it would be like without their pre-screening feature
