Hi,

I'm sure this has been asked before but I cant find the post.

Is there a free script that automates the account creation process on a RaQ server?

This is NOT a request for one to be programmed as I am a confident PHP and Perl programmer and I hire 4 others, there is no point in us starting work on one though if it already exists.

I've found one script in Hotscripts although it costs over $100 which is not worth it for what it does.

Thanks for any help.

Robert

Free.

Excellent, this should be perfect!

Thank you for your help, have you tried out the script yourself?

Thanks again,

Robert

The question you need to ask yourself is whether the scripting is worth $300. I think that if we created such a script, we'd sell it for $20 and watch the 100+ orders roll in, not overcharge a fellow host.
The free script that I was pointed to seems to take care of the automated registration and the only things not covered are phpMyAdmin that can be easily installed and pointed to.

Just out of interest, what stops you from paying once and then using the script on as many servers as you like?

Ethics?

When you are serious about your hosting company you can't go around and use illegal software to run it.

Well I think $20 is a tad low, where $300 is a tad high, but I guess what we need to realize is that Rich needs to survive. He only has a limited # of customers, being Raq only customers. I seen that he is working on a Red Hat linux version of his program, this will probably open things up.

I honestly think if he puts his efforts into it it would be a pretty good control panel for a plain red hat machine, but it has a ways to go.

For now I am sticking with his old version that sold for $99.

Nothing stops you, but as Pilgrim said, ethics.

I agree, if you bought the software you should be able to load it on as many of YOUR own servers as needed, but again, that is not in the user agreement.

Wonder if musicians would take this model up? I wonder if it is really legal to do this.

Yeah, Metallica's next CD, you can only use the CD "software" in one CD player in your home. So if you want to listen to their music in your car, you need to buy a second copy of the "software" to listen to it there. j/k

Mind you when AutoControl pro came out, he wanted $299 per year per server.

Enough people complained that he dropped that idea.
