I am trying to have an option where the customer can put there "name" instead of choosing the drop down menu for the monogram, but it wont work... Can someone look at the code and tell me what is wrong with the code and try to get the "name" (the tag just above the add to cart button)

Wouldn't you want to use an input tag, type="text"?
I hope that this helps.

How did you customize it to have the options like you did? And do those options show up in the mals account that you have when you login? thx

bfw, is it working for you now?
Z400, the options are done using the extended scripting capability with Mals. I am a writer (words), not a coder, but I had it mastered within one night. :) I created a master "test" page of what I want my product pages to have, for custom-designed maple splint baskets. You can see my page here:
http://country-bear.com/baskets/amertrad/pages/tea.html
Please have a look at the source code of our pages (the lovelystitches page above, and mine) and then compare that off Mal's instructions/samples on his site. Here's a support doc which addresses the idea of the basic coding behind product attributes:
http://mals-e.com/support/ctutorials/tscr.htm?pg=16
On my page (country-bear.com, the tea basket page) I also used multiproduct coding so that my customers would only have to hit "Order" once and all the products and attributes would write to the cart at a single time. Documentation on multiproduct is here:
http://mals-e.com/support/ctutorials/tscr.htm?pg=9
http://mals-e.com/support/ctutorials/tscr.htm?pg=8
Print that stuff out, print out our source code, and play with it. If I could get it in a single night I am sure you will be flying with it even faster. :)

If you're still having problems - feel free to look at the code in this site I did. It has alot of options to put embroidery on weightbelts
go to cardillousa dot com
go to weight belts --> deluxe line
and then view more details for one of the belts
hope that helps
