Hi there,

I do not use WorldPay but today I tried to make a purchase using it, and notice a big hole in it.

Located in Belgium, I tried to pay with my Portuguese Visa Card. They declined it, even tough everything was correct and I use my card to pay EVERYTHING around, online and offline. (my ip should have been the reason anyways.)

So, moving forward... The transaction was declined but.... (drums).... I was authorized in the web site I was buying from!!

Worldpay sent details to their system as if I paid, even though the transaction was declined!

Check this out:

Looks like a joke eh? But true! One guy told me that he could get software for free on any store using WorldPay but I really never listened to what he was saying. Now I know it is true!

So, people using WorldPay, turn off automated stuff!!! Do it manually or get another provider.

Just wanted to make people know about this, I would love to be advised if I was in the shoes of those who are using it.

They might manually check your order and authorized it ?

Thank God we went with Barclays Bank merchant Account. We were furious when Worldpay tried to shaft us for nearly £2000GBP but in retrospect ;) Boy oh Boy, are we glad!!

I would advise anyone who wants a reliable and pretty cheap Merchant Account to try Barclays EPDQ services, excellent.

Here is the link to their merchant Accounts www.epdq,co,uk

Barclays only ask for the money 8 weeks after your account is up and running --Before that time not one single penny or cent!!

worldpay is (or rather was) international .. they are limiting themselves to the EU only now.

However barclays is only reserved for UK merchants ...

Barclays have just changed the rules on EPDQ,they have expanded, so who knows they may be prepared to take on other countries as there are branches of Barclays all the World over. You could always try them, the Merchant account office is pretty friendly (For a bank;..LOL)

I thought worldpay was reliable?

From a technical viewpoint, it is reliable. What the original poster has seen is someone's shopping cart not handling the return information correctly (after all they say WP turned them down, and the vendor said congrats). Worldpay will return the information back to the vendor. What the vendor does, is well... upto them.

I don't think you are right. I see your point though, also thought about that possibility but no. The shopping cart received info from worldpay yes, but the info was "payment accepted". That is the prob.

Okay, but how do you know what worldpay sent back to the shopping cart ? What if the shopping cart had a bug, which didn't see the rejection by worldpay or ignored the rejection and sent you a confirmation note? What if the vendor has incorrectly setup his account so that rejections are returned to the success page?

If you genuinely think worldpay has a bug, you should report it to worldpay so that either they fix it, or make the vendor fix his shopping cart.
