But I can still send emails w/o requiring authenication. Anyone got a clue?

How often does your mailprogram check for new email? If it is set to check for new mail every 5 minutes your "window" for sending mail never closes.

That, and your box will always accept mail for an account on the box. Make sure you are sending to someplace OFF the box!

I'm sending from my RAQ4s to my yahoo and hotmail test accounts. It goes through.
Plus I'm able to relay from another ISP!
And I get spams and I get relayed!
What's the detail with RAQs???!!:bawling:

That 63.xx.xx thing wouldn't be your IP would it?

Yes, 63.xxx.xxx.xxx is my IP address.
My ISP's IP address.
Is that what's wrong with it? :o

Unless I'm mistaken.. If you've got yourself in as an allowed host (your ip address) for relaying, it's not going to matter if you pop first, you'll be allowed to send even if you don't check first.. Try taking it out and see if you have to pop (check mail) before you can send. I am pretty sure that pop before smtp does not turn off authorized send via smtp, it just checks to make sure you are you via pop before allowing it *if* yew are not listed..
Am I right? Wrong? Any guru's out there?? I'm just a WHT addict... Not quite guru status yet :D

You are correct, this is why it is letting you send mail. Also, don't add external domains (like ohhh ummmm aol.com for example) to the allowed relay list, etc.
