Who here would be willing to pay for a trouble ticket script? If so what features would you want included.

Take a look at perldesk.com. Just to give you some info on your competition, you would need to do something better/equal to that. Perldesk is also free, but to me their weak point is it's coded in Perl.

Do a similar script in PHP and you might have a chance of selling it.

Good luck and feel free to post your progress here!

We could do it in php if that is better. Now what do you say?

Well, personally I ended up writing my own, but when I was looking around for a script I would have been willing to pay, say $50, for a good and easily customized PHP script.

Apart from the obvious functionality of a support script, my main requirements was
- PHP. Simply because I suck at Perl and I wanted to to some customization, authentication against my own client management database for instance. I'm not sure if that's something often wanted, but my tip is for you to encapsulate the user authentication into a class/own file so it can be easily modified.

- MySQL backend

I was looking all over at Hotscripts and while my first goal was to find a free script and customize it I couldn't find anyone free working ok.

As I said, I turned down PerlDesk mainly because it was Perl ( also I tried but couldn't get it running on the RAQ ).

This script will run at about $20.

What? I don't think that they're that similar. Although from a technical standpoint I may be way off.
