View Full Version : Question
Insane Halcyon 11-18-2004, 03:27 AM ive got a question, i might one day start up a web host.
so im wondering do you have to get a Reseller acount from some other website. or is there a different way?
im wondering how other webhosting companies do it, i mean how do they have it, do they have reseller acounts at some other website, or did they do something else?
thanks, sorry if im a complete n00b, because i am with this. ;)
buffhost 11-18-2004, 03:37 AM Hello Insane Halcyon,
Welcome to Hosting Biz!
You can start your business with reseller account,
Expand it with Virtual Private Server,
and after it with Dedicated Server...
These are my own step by step experience!
Good Luck:)
Pro Host For Sale 11-18-2004, 05:54 AM You must buy a reseller account from another host, they control the serer and keep it running. With a reseller account you only handle account setup and billing, support etc. nothing server related
MikeSupport 11-18-2004, 02:21 PM Insane Halcyon,
I would strongly recommend writing some kind of plan before starting any kind of business. Starting Reselling does not only involve getting Reseller account from some other company and just selling it.
You should have some knowledge as well. When your customer has a problem, you may be able to fix the simple ones, if it is a problem which requires more access priviledges or knowledge you should then get to the Customer Support of your upstream company, but it will delay the process a bit and you need to keep your customers satisfied.
I would also recommend searching around the Reseller Forum, you will find lots of information regarding the issue and also please note that there are lots of companies who provide the same service you intend to start with and try to think of some strategy which will make your services different from them to gain some competitive advantage.
Kind Regards,
Mike
PogiWeb 11-18-2004, 03:11 PM Insane Halcyon their is not other way to host someones website. You need either a reseller account, vps, or ds to be able to start a webhosting company. Best of luck to you!
SupremeGFX 11-18-2004, 05:33 PM Personally IMO. The best way to start a hosting business is with a reseller. Then once you get a good amount of customers/clients, you may upgrade to an server.
Insane Halcyon 11-21-2004, 06:49 AM thanks for the replies.

Insane Halcyon 11-23-2004, 12:41 AM heck im probably posting all this in the wrong forums...
ktshannon 11-23-2004, 08:11 PM yeah, safest way is to start reseller from another co.
paulius 11-27-2004, 02:51 PM Reseller may be a very ewasy way to start.
If you're more adventurous, you can try to invest into your own servers.
