View Full Version : Why do Plesk 7 for Windows duplicates files

1. Just noticed that Plesk keeps a complete copy of the d:\inetpub\wwwroot\vhosts folder in
d:\inetpub\wwwroot\servers\1004\localhost.

If you change a content of some website in vhosts\ folder it changes immediately in the servers\ folder.

Can anyone prove that it is happening on every plesk 7 for windows server?

May be someone have a response why there is a need of eating double HDD space.

2. Another "duplicating problem" is that IIS creates log files and Plesk keeps its own access_log files. Which of them are analysed by log analysers?

Well, I do not think it's a bug.

Plesk 7 for windows has been disapointing for me, currently talking with Plesk so I can get a linux license instead. Worst part is some of the features they advertised for things like the powerpack aren't even there, or at least aren't even part of the CP that you can control when they claim you can.

The 7.0 Reloaded Linux however is great, very happy with that overall.

If that 2nd file isn't a copy I'd bet it's a windows IIS dependency that requires them to copy the file over to a specific directory, and for some reason they prefer to keep an original with the plesk install.

isn't Plesk 7 is written in php? why use a program that is created for linux then port over? Helm is ok but i hope Microsoft will make a CP for windows someday.
