Myacen.com looks like it has GREAT deals :spiny: I was wondering if I should sign up. I am going to register my domain with registerfly.com and host there, which would cost about $35 per year. I think that's a SUPER price for my small site, but is Myacen a good host? I'm signing up for the beginner plan. It looks good and I've only heard good things, but I don't know... HMMMM....

By the way, I've searched in these forums already and found nothing useful :unhappy:

Never heard of them. Their server(s) is/are located at Rackshack and they are based in Australia. Maybe someone else here knows more or has experience with using them..

I think I'm just going to go for it and register with them. I've only heard good things, never bad. Wish me luck :)

Wait, I have one more thing to ask before I sign up. Do they have a Unix server or windows? I am completely oblivious to the difference between Unix and Windows. Which is better? Does it matter what kind of computer I use? I am so confused :/

They use *nix... *nix servers are generally the way to go

Myacen, afaik, have been operating since about June 2001.

I signed up with them last month (beginners account)

Had a few issues, but they were resolved. :)

I'm with you on this one! I think I'll do the same thing. Serves them well, it seems like they've built up their reputation over time.

myacen have built their reputation of having a great support. try going to their support forums ( http://www.myacen.com/forums ) and you'll see a lot of problems/questions that have been resolved/answered faster than you can hit the submit button (but of course, that's an exaggeration ;) )

the host is also fast and reliable, barely having a downtime for more than 24 hours...not to mention great prices....

I definitely recommend them (well, I still don't have an account with them, but have been on their forums for almost 5 months already, and will be getting an account soon :) )

i had some trouble with them at the start... but it was all sorted out (I wanted to try Gossamer-Forum on the my webspace on my Myacen account.. however need a module installed... 2 days later it was installed)

Response times are pretty good.

I have heard things about Rackshack too.... but you hear good and bad things of webhosts and that all the time....
