View Full Version : Whoiscart sucks...
xtonet 11-17-2004, 07:49 AM Just got it, very dissapointed.
I am maybe going to change to autopilot soon...is that good?
I want to make reseller accounts automaticly, hook it up with 2co and paypal and offer discount codes.
Does it have a help desk side like modernbill?
Waht should i go with, still not very sure.
hostbox 11-17-2004, 08:11 AM Modernbill is the way to go, only if you do real billing.
xtonet 11-17-2004, 08:21 AM everything built in and ready? I dont want to add millions of modules and edit millions of files like whoiscart..
Why modern bill and not whm?
TheTop 11-17-2004, 08:25 AM I've also been looking for billing software ... modernbill has the best reputation but is apparntly a 'beast' ... drams is also a good solution ... clientexec has had a few good reviews ...
The biggest problem is recurring billing ...
As 2CO does not send out recurring billing confirmations it's difficult for any app to confirm the recurring billing ...
Having said that, if you find any app that seemlesly integrates with 2CO and does recurring billing .. PLEASE let me know ;)
xtonet 11-17-2004, 08:27 AM whoiscart developed it.. seen it in their forums.
fraudgate 11-17-2004, 12:13 PM 2checkout's V2 gateway has support for recurring billing and notifies the script when a recurring transaction is successful or failed. All of 2checkout's clients will soon be transferred to V2, so the recurring capability is there for billing software packages to take advantage of.

Whois.cart does all of this for $35 where as WHMAutopilot does this for $150/29.95 each month for extra support.

I am not aware of any 'modules' that you have to add other than the configuration files for your RAPI's and HAPI's. The files you have to edit are all configuration files. Above that all you have to edit is the themes to make it flow with your website.
xtonet 11-18-2004, 02:31 PM Cool cool, whoiscart just is very.....um......crap?
i'll be getting modern bill in january when we open the site. thanks :D
This is kinda old but I am gonna pop it up, because I have been skinning that miserable thing for a friend and finally gave it up after a week..
The coding it is a complete mess (just look at the HTML Output), the template system does not even exist (they call that a template system???).... uff uff.
I know it is cheap and all that, but I do not even think that this piece of software deserves $35 or whatever they ask for it.
ModernBill or UberSmith are the ones. Pay more but get more :)
Shaw Networks 03-19-2005, 08:21 PM I don't see what all the stock in all encompassing billing control panels is. We have all our billing automated, and keep simple records of every client. If a subscription cancellation or payment failure comes in, our billing dept takes care of it. No buggy control panels for us :)

I must admit with Francisco, modernbill works pretty good as what I have seen.
There are some OSCommerce distribution that also work very well and have alot of features like the ones you describe.

I use modernbill since 2003 (2 years  ), and I am happy with the software. I had a few problems with them because of their support team in the beginning, but now it is all good.
I must also say that WHM AP is a nice software as well, and a lot simpler to use.
It really depends on what you plan to do in the future. Modernbill is something that can support you for years.
After you use Modernbill with the TEXTDEFAULT team, you will never go back. I say this because the Ceonex Theme (DolphinX) slows it a lot.
Though ModernGigabyte insists to make it the default theme, even on their demo. Snif.

Modernbill takes care of real billing? I've been looking for something to make taxes and such easier...
