I personally wouldn't, seeing how I already have web hosting, but it looks nice.

Possibly... depending upon the reputation of the host providing the package.

Otherwise it looks like a nice price point.

Well, $5 is really cheap... I'm a firm believer you get what you pay for. I would be skeptial. 100 MB is nice, 3 GB is probably fair, 100 POP3 is more than enough, 50 sub-domains is odd, same for MySQL DB. I say "odd" because a site that small wouldn't need 50 sub domains nor 3 databases.

Just my .02

I would, but as the guy above said, i already have hosting :-)

now ... people ask huge HD space, nice bandwith, nice features, nice server, nice uptime, and even a 24/7 support over the phone for only $4.95/mo? Woa ... I won't compete at this level at all ... I pass :D

cheers,

no way, your QoS will be crap or you'll be out of business in 6 months. I would love to see more people take a realistic look at the operating expenses of a host before deciding to become one...This ain't easy stuff folks.

I get web hosting for free, so I wouldn't sign up, but why give everyone their own IP address?

Other than that, good luck.

Alot of people will signup for that. Unfortunately, that type of hosting company will NOT be able to survive long-term, at that rate. They'll do great for awhile...but will soon run out of resources to handle the volume of customers they'll get.

Don't think I would pay if it was a new company, if it'd been around for a year or two I might have. But it's a lot of deals like that out there right now.

Instead of "Would you pay", maybe your subject should have been "I would pay".

The way you had it, you were asking us if we would pay for that, obviously.

I guess its how you read it !

I wouldn't... ever.

Why? Just adding MySQL increases costs... MySQL can consume a high amount of resources, forcing them to buy more servers. Not to mention all the questions their tech support will receive asking for help with it.

$5/month leaves no room for profit, thus, will force the web host to cut down on costs, probably staff or server power.

To me, this plan seems a bit on the "too good to be true" side. I can not see how the host offering this will be able to remain in business profitabily at that price point in the long term. Now I have nothing against affordable plans like for example those offered by AffordableHosting, but the kind of bandwidth and disk space they're including for $4.95 seems to be unrealistic.

Now I might very well be wrong, but just don't be disappointed if they go out of business or don't provide good service.

I wanted to signup with

Gearhost.com

But you guys keep saying that 4.95 is too little to pay for allot of features and the features is way more than what I stated.

People in this forum keep saying good things about them but look like all the people in this post appose the price?

I'm confuse

Bahres, I am looking into GearHost.com as well (but at their $15 dollar platinum plan) and I agree that a lot of what have been said is confusing. I have also spoken on the phone to Ryan (ryank CEO) many times and have always found him courteous and polite, willing to answer all my questions. At the same time, people here have been complaining about pre-sales tickets etc not being answered. It is confusing. I did read a post of yours about ten minutes ago and I see your signature says "Beware. Cheap hosting will make you sick." Go with your gut instinct. LoL - if I had your outlook on cheap hosting, my gut would most certainly be telling me a big fat "NO". -Ves

PS - Good luck and if you do sign up with them in the next say- month, email me and tell me how their service has been treating you.

WILL DO ! ! ! ! !

By the way

"Cheap Hosting Will Make You Sick"

It is at the bottom of everthing I post I did not say it to mean gearhost! as you will see it at the bottom of this one as well !

Thanks

No, I know that :) You're probably very right. Everyone should be wary of cheap hosting and rightly so. I am not however saying good deals do not exist out there and I am still considering GearHost. -Ves
