Is there such a thing as "free advertising"? Or at least fairly cheap (Under $10 maybe?) I know this outrageous, but...just wondering.

Check this forum out: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=27 Cheaper ad offers come through (banners, text links, etc.) Web Hosting Stuff 11-17-2004, 12:09 AM Originally posted by Pinecobble Is there such a thing as "free advertising"? Well to be honest, it's an uphill task to find any forms of advertising under $10  Perhaps word of mouth would be your best bet :) :stickout: blazernetwork 11-19-2004, 01:31 PM If you are seriously planning to make money in the biz i think its going to take a bit more then 10 dollars to get things rolling. revise 11-19-2004, 03:46 PM Originally posted by Pinecobble Is there such a thing as "free advertising"? Yes, it's called word of mouth. (You could also hit up businesses your local chamber of commerce, but you'd probably end up paying more than $10 for gas..) DediZoneSales 11-19-2004, 05:18 PM http://www.payperclickanalyst.com/index.htm Sure, you can use that 10$ to test some of these PPC advertising search engines. After you blow that 10$ you can determine which one brought any results if any ;) Heh, Good luck revise 11-19-2004, 06:23 PM Not really, though. Statistically speaking, $10 is a pretty small sample size for drawing conclusions with any confidence. Incidentally, I don't recommend Kanoodle for PPC advertising - the ads are largely published on very low quality search sites with exclusively PPC results. Web Hosting Stuff 11-19-2004, 11:27 PM $10 on PPC would not yield any conclusive results ... it may not even get you any conversions. If each click costs an average of $1.00, you only get 10 clicks. 5 clicks if they cost $2.00. The numbers just wouldn't work out :( revise 11-19-2004, 11:43 PM Quite right. It's easy to spend $50+ without seeing any [short term] conversions, even on a quality PPC network like Adwords or Overture. For web hosting services, that is. AdWatcher-Boris 11-20-2004, 01:48 AM Regarding word of mouth - I see a lot of people using it as an example of free advertising. I don't quite agree. Word of mouth is when your existing clients refer new ones. You gain new customers - but it's NOT a form of advertising. Furthermore, I highly doubt that you will be able to even get your feet wet with different advertising techniques if you don't even have a couple of hundred dollars. It takes time, money, and experimentation in order to get it right. Okay, it doesn't match Webster's definition of advertising, but it still achieves the same effect. |
