What's crazy about that? People get OC12s all the time, otherwise people who sell them would never make any money.

Your best bet to start is to decide which backbone you want to connect to. You can check out Boardwatch's backbone page:

http://www.boardwatch.com/isp/bb/Backbone_Profiles.htm

Some companies even list their pricing (retail pricing). Or did you need more specific information? If you do, what questions do you have?

Thanks for your reply!

I need something in California, S. California to be exact. And to tell you the truth, I don't know much about getting a OC12 at all... so I guess my question is who is best (most reliable) out there and how much does it cost?

Thanks.
Chris

okay -- first thing is you probably should not be ordering an OC12 until you do more research, to determine if you really need all that bandwidth.

If you are getting an OC12, you probably want to get it from one of the top backbone carriers. There is some debate as to who the top carriers are, but if you stick with:

1. UUNET/WorldCom
2. Sprint
3. AT&T
4. Genuity
5 Qwest
6. Cable & Wireless
7. Level 3

You should be okay. I am sure you can find horror stories and good experiences about all of these providers, but if you need bandwidth they have it in large quantity.

An OC12 will probably cost you about $50 Grand a month, plus local loop charges. Of course some providers charge more, and most offer a discount for long term contracts.
