I need to redirect a load of domain names to a "For Sale" page and would like to get opinions on companies offering this service.
Reliability is a must.

Reliability is a must. Thanks SickofAds 11-27-2000, 02:29 AM Is that page on a domain you have currently or is it someplace else? If it's just on some domain you have now, you can do it just by parking them and getting your host to point them right at that page or folder. If it's someplace else, you might want to use someplace like granitecanyon for your DNS so that you can do the pointing yourself. inwks 11-27-2000, 05:30 AM Try http://www.mydomain.com 70MM 11-27-2000, 06:52 AM SickofAds: I'll have a "For Sale" page set-up at tripod that I want my domain names redirected to from various parking spots (hosts, registrars, etc.) One of my hosts charges $25.00/per year, per domain name to redirect... not in the budget. inwks: http://www.MyDomain.com seem's to be the company of choice. [Edited by 70MM on 11-27-2000 at 05:55 AM] inwks 11-27-2000, 06:59 AM However, I think they are not accepting any new domains at the moment, you might want to check.. I use them for all but one of my domains to point to the same server as the domain they don't look after. Considering that they are free, I cannot complain about their service (no downtime, as far as I can tell!) nagromme 11-27-2000, 02:38 PM Try zoneedit.com, they are free for a few domains, not expensive for more. I'm also just now trying redirection.net ($15/year, but includes registration of you need that). NMCB 11-27-2000, 04:13 PM I signed up with mydomain.com last week. So far, I have added approx. 10 domains. Each domain was manually added as I could not find the form to add the domains in bulk, but the process was relatively easy. Expect 2-4 days for each domain to redirect to your new site/page... 1-2 days for changing DNS, and 1-2 days for adding the domain to mydomain. Also, the site was down this weekend for several hours. I have also signed up with zoneedit.com. I figure it's wise to spread out my domains. Nam 11-27-2000, 04:26 PM mydomain.com so far is the best, most of my domains use them. Of course, they have some down times. Also, the redirection won't work if you switch to myDNS and change the MX's record to everyone.net, in my case. I'm a long-time member there, back to a yeard and half ago, they charged me $30 or something one-time fee to open an account. There was mymonitor also, but not anymore. For other DNS service, you have to pay after 5 domains, I think. I've never tried them. successful 11-28-2000, 08:27 PM We send our customers to http://www.DomainRedirect.com <<Admin notice : portion of msg deleted for contravening of guidlines.>> [Edited by Administration on 11-28-2000 at 08:48 PM] 70MM 11-30-2000, 06:09 PM Thanks for the input everybody! Spider John 12-01-2000, 01:38 AM I've used DomainRedirect.com in the past and found the service to be subpar. The domain redirection server was down quite a bit, and of the three domain names I tried to register on their servers, I was only ever able to get one of them to actually work, and THAT was only after three weeks of persistent emailing and a jar of Aspirin. Be wary. One thing I've noticed, however, is that many web hosts offer domain redirection, whether they reveal it directly on their rates/prices pages on their sites, in the order forms, or not at all (i.e. you have to call up an overly eager sales person after he's had about 6 coffees in the past hour alone and ask). |
