Same here. My site and a friends site is also down. The odd thing is that my brother-in-law's site is hosted by ReadyHosting and his site is up.

Not sure what the problem is. They have been reliable thus far.

hey everyone,

this is my first time in here.... Yes, I also use ReadHosting...and my website has been down since yesterday.. so is my email too. lately this has been happening alot, espeically with their email. I did talk to someone at their office a while back.. and they were telling me that one of their mail server was being attack for sending out SPAM mail, so becuase of that I asked to move my email to another server. I think it was 2 weeks ago, they were having a problem with their DNS.. that was resolve within a day. I dont know if maybe they have been hacked in or something.

They are up again. I couldn't see my sites (page not found error, huh!!!!!) but readyhosting.com is up again. Seems like mail doesn't work yet.

Would love to know what the heck happen and would like some serious reply about future (so that it doesn't happen again). I've been with them for some time and they have been ok, so don't want to 'jump the ship' yet but if it goes like this, i would be forced to do so.

yea, they are up. my email seem to be working... but i know during the down time, i have sent myself a few test emails. i still havent got those yet. (hopefully no one send me email over the weekend.

i dont often go into readyhosting site. looks like they got themself a new look.

I think they should send out a new letter or something, just to keep ppl info about what has been happening. I feel like I am being left out in the cold.

hmm, i think i'm going to call them tomorrow and see what they have to say.

oh, the Data Center isnt working yet......

skyhawks,

I would appreciate if you keep us posted. I am in Australia so calling them is a daunting task (simply because of time diff) and trouble ticket... we all know how S L O W it is.

I just hope this doesn't happen again (or else i would have to move). I have few sites with them and i would have been in trouble if this would have gone like this for one more day (thank God it's Weekend).

Will appreciate if you keep us in the loop!

Cheers Mate! ;)

I will call them as well on Monday from work to see what happened and if I can get an answer about it. I have been happy with my service so far but my needs are rather simple so I do not interact with their support group very much. This weekend's downtime is beyond excuse, however.

My brother-in-law has not had good luck with their support department and basically took several days to resolve a very minor problem.

Regarding Ready Hosting, check out the following thread for further information on why you should leave their service:

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2324

BTW, the above thread was started in October of 2000.

For a MUCH better Win2K host, try GearHost. I'm sure you've heard a ton about them on these forums and if not, run a search. You'll find plenty (of good) to read.

My site is down and has been down for almost TWO DAYS NOW!!!!!!!!! I have always had issues with these guys, but this is it for me. I will no longer gove them my money.

I am currently in the process of switching to gearhost.com. markblair suggests it too.

man.... so many of us are screwed that we could freakin' start a cult/club/webring or something where the only requirements are people who have been screwed by readyhosting.com. lol.

man... and all these people keep IMing with "your site's down," "my e-mail doesn't work," and "i think i broke a nail when i pounded my keyboard in response to your unacceptable down time."

ugh...

anyway, i wish you all luck.

peace.

We would like to apologize for the problems that have occurred over the
last 48 hours. It appears we had a malicious attack on our network that
we have been working full time to correct. Many of the network and
support team worked well into the night and early morning hours all
weekend long to try and defuse the hacking attempt. This was also
assisted by security and network experts at UUnet. It would appear that
the focus of the attack was Readyhosting itself and our internal
network
and very little damage or lost files should have occurred on any
domains. We believe we have a handle on it now and should not see any
more outages. The Chief Technical Officer and his network staff will be
working in conjunction with the authorities to find and prosecute the
offender. Again, I can't stress how much we appreciate the
understanding
of our loyal customers who are aware of how much diligence we place in
trying to prevent this type of occurrence and the effort put forth to
make sure all clients websites are running properly as soon as we
possibly can. We will continue to put forth a maximum effort to recover
whatever data we can and restore all sites and services to normal as
quickly as humanly possible. Again, our sincere apologies in this
matter.

My site http://www.dubtastic.com/ has been down
tonight. I am not aware of when it first went down
but I have not been able to access the site for some
time, or other sites that are hosted by Ready Hosting.

I tried to log into Ready Hosting to change my contact
email as I wanted to make sure it was an active email
address.

Can someone provide an update as to why the site has
been down and when it can be expected to be back up?

Thanks,
Jason

I guess the 99% uptime guarantee is out the window
with this one...

I notified Ready Hosting last night about 11:45p that
my site (http://www.dubtastic.com) was down, as was
the other site that I own:

Why has there been no reply to my email stating what
the status/trouble is? When can I expect the site to
be brought back up?

I find this extremely hard to believe. First off, if this were true, don't you think it would be all over CNN right about now? This stuff does happen at times and when it does, it's front page material. Second, if UUnet is their backbone, wouldn't they have had problems as well? I manage nearly one hundred UUnet dial-up connections for a company I work for and not once in the past week has there been a slowdown. Plus, UUnet is not stating that anything went wrong. Based on how Ready Hosting has acted in the past, I believe, in my opinion, that this is just a way for them to get people to feel bad for them and not cancel their service.

Hi dubtastic,

At least you got a response. I have mailed them, have been very patient but no reply what so ever. My site is down now for 2 days and 6 hours. I cannot even login to my ftp account.

I would totaly understand if some thing happened beyond there control, but to the very least they should notify there customer. I have 6 sites with them. My main site is down but rest are still available. I mailed them but not even a autoresponder, I don't want to leave them (simply because its would be too much hassle) but the way things are goin i guess i would have to.

I have already joined Gearhost but didn't want to transfer all my resold account, but if Readyhosting couldn't care less about us than what's the point.

I am still very patient, i would totaly understand if they come up with a good excuse and have some sort of guarantee that it won't happen again (just to show they have done every thing on there end).

Still waiting.....

I guess it's time to move on... It's rather sad :(

GearHost here I come!!!!!

i wish they would at least send some sort of mail to their customers. this is garbage.

A "malicious" attack on a network doesn't cause data loss.

Leaving unpatched security holes on a *server* can cause data loss.

It's common in this industry to use the hype the media has built (Internet attacks) to excuse a problem.

Peter :)

p.s.: I've dealt with UUNet. A network attack, or a flood, is stopped at UUNet within minutes. They have monitoring systems to detect bandwidth overloads (usually attacks) on a client's connection.

markblair
02-04-2002, 10:02 PM
Exactly... UUNet has had "server problems" in the past and they are resolved within hours, not days. I work with them on a daily basis and again, like I stated above, if this really happened, it would have been reported. I still don't see anything on CNN or UUNet.com or anywhere else for that matter. It's a lie to get people to be nice to them and not cancel.

I tried calling them for about 45 minutes yesterday afternoon and got nothing but busy signals. They state on their message, if and when you get through, that if you do not want to wait, you can send an email to support@readyhosting.com... However, Congress moves faster than their support department. I can fully understand being busy but some acknowledgement of my email would be appreciated.

Dealing with application support myself, we cannot afford to simply ignore a request. At the very minimum we acknowledge it. :crap:

no. but.........

while they have been taking their time doing nothing for me, i bought space at gearhost.com.

i am going to log onto domainpeople.com, which is where readyhosting gives us our domains from. i am pointing it to the new webspace.

I don't have all my data, but i at least want the majority of the site up.

if and when readyhosting contacts me, i will be demanding that they upload backed up tape copy of my site so i can retrieve the data i do not have (ie. forums and their contents) and then i will cancel my account with them. i will be demanding a full refund also (aside from the non-refundable setup fee of course). if they don't contact me, i will simply have my local consumer lawyer contact them.

what does that mean for me? i get what i want.

what does that mean for them? there mistreatment of me and everyone else will be made public thus hurting their company.

I hope it all goes well for you... I am actually on hold with them right now. It only took several million busy signals to actually get through. I have yet to speak with someone.

I would love to transfer my domain to gearhost. Can I do that without losing the domain name I registered? If so, drop me an email (jfm93@yahoo.com) with how I can do it.

1) if you get this post in time, would please have them contact me. my user name is trinitythree and my website is t3ministries.com . If you could relay that, it would be great. Thank you.

2) When you drop your service with readyhosting.com, you still maintain ownership over your domain name. It is registered with domainpeople.com. All you have to do is chnage your DNS information at domainpeople to your new web space. I personaly recommend tranfering your domain from domainpeople.com because the will charge you an arm and a leg ($30/yr-$50/yr) when you can just go to a reseler like godaddy.com for like $8/yr.

Good luck man. I am now going to call readyhosting again ...

Hello,

As been reading different threads, got to know that the down time percentage with famous hosting companies are much much higher than bed room hostings.

iPowerWeb, ReadyHosting, HostRocket ! Why this well known companies should have this much complaint of downtime here in WHT ?

Have a great day !
