Hi,

I did some freelance work for someone last month. And I agreed to accept payment after I completed the job. I sent him a rough draft, and he said it was fine to complete the project. I did so and never heard back from him. Then I sent him a friendly emailing asking if he received the work and my bill ok and still no response. What can I do?

Send him certified mail telling him that he is overdue for payment and that you will be going after the money. Small claims court might work out as long as you had some sort of agreement or contract to do the work.

I am freelancer too. Few years ago I was ripped off few times too :(
What I can said you from my expirience:
1. If you work with client first time, request escrow payment or prepayment.
2. Do not provide results of the work before payment. (Only demo).

It's simple and nobody will cheat you :)

You could take them to small claims court. You should always receive a downpayment.

Well...
sometimes developers cheat too and don't do anythink after prepayment, so a lot of clients don't want to use it.

That's why escrow are better that prepayment becouse nobody will lost money (or at least chances to lost money are low).

Hmm, you should of really asked for a deposit at the start... for now you can take him to a small claims court.
