We custom built ours because we have programmers on staff. However, if you dont have any technical people, I highly recommend using modernbill.

If you want something cheaper, try clientexec. You can use it for selling dedicated servers too.

maybe I should have elaborated a little more earlier:

We were looking at clientexec to handlt the functions.
Modernbill seems way to chunky and bloated for anything but web hosting.

So at this moment it does look like clientexec :-)

Client exec is pretty good, like you said, I think MB has far too many features and it takes a long time to get used to and understand everything.

There are a number of smaller solutions that simply handle ordering then you can use something seperate for billing.

We custom built ours...took 8 months and many many lost hours of sleep but it's awesome...

ClientExec is also very good. I use it for things other than hosting - simply create a new client type.
