Hi,

I have been with Gazzin. Their support has been wonderful and they offer TomCat at great prices. I have decided to go ahead with them for longer term plan.

But, most of the reviews here said, while their service is good, their server uptime is very poor. Another complaint is that the server is overloaded.

How does one measure the uptime? I am a begineer, so, please explain in detail if the procedure is complex. The issue is whenever I check my site is up and it loads fast.

But, I think that is not the sceintific way to measure the uptime or the load :-)

murthy,

What server are you on thats experiencing the downtimes? Our current new server "viper" where all new signups have no downtime reported.

As for the overload all our servers are limited to the amount of resellers / machine. Keep in mind all our server dual processors with more than 2GB of RAM / SATA drives. We upgrade our hardware and keep the load average under 2.00. At all times

www.Alertra.com would be good for you, if you chose to go down that path.

We use www.websitepulse.com as well as internal Nagios servers in a couple of locations.

We use multiple "probes" monitored via software developed by Paessler; http://www.paessler.com/products/ipcheck/?link=home1

I'd recommend any customer wanting to monitor their site to go with the lowest check time possible (ideally 5 minutes). 30 minute check times can give very inaccurate uptime stats. If the check catches the server in a longish reboot, it would result in 30 minutes of downtime with your monitoring servce.

There are some special programs for that i think. Google might be helpful

As I mentioned, I have had excellent experience with both support and uptime so far. But, I wanted to measue it more scientifically to be 100% sure as I read several people complain about downtime. Probably, they were about the older servers (not viper).
