Hi

I have been keeping an eye on these forums for some months now with a view to starting out as a reseller.

I am looking for a second income as I am retired "46 years young". I have been running web sites since 1996 and am OK with the software/hardware I will need to be running. I am not looking to do this for fun or how to learn how hosting works, I am looking to do this as a job.

I have an establised web site which I can use as a base for web hosting, but what I would like to know is what sort of income I can expect to make.

Is it a bit like internet advertizing 98% of income goes to 2% of web sites, which leaves 2% of advertizing income for the remaing 98% of web sites, or can I hope if I put in the work a fair income.

My idea of a fair second income would be £100 a week, if it was my main income then £250 a week, this would be after any outgoings or tax.

Regards

Michael

Hi,

I would say that it is a worthwhile venture if you truly love doing it. Don't expect to get huge right away. Formulate a plan. Aim for covering your expenses after 4-6 weeks then work your way up. If you really enjoy it, then you can consider it a hobby at first so money won't matter. Aim for say $500/mo after about 6 months and double that after a year.

When you have enough to cover the cost of a dedicated server and have saved enough for marketing etc, you can hit it big time.

So, think long term and you're on the right track. I have had people come to me asking if they'll be able to pull in a grand after month 1 or complaining about spending $50 on setting up Revecom etc.

Bottom line. It's going to take time, money, patience, perserverance and dedication. Through in some common sense and a genuine desire to help people and you've got the receipe for success.
