View Full Version : IMPORTANT: Bid for this Angel!
imago-allan 02-01-2002, 12:09 PM Guys,
We have created a unique "cartoonized" angel (illustration) for one of our clients who happen to have other preference. We might as well auction it off here. :)
The image is up for bid as it is uploaded here. The winner gets full rights to the image.
I am starting the bid at $20. Anyone interested can bid for $21. The minimum bid increment is $1.00
Who's up for $21?
(Place bid on the thread).
EDIT: We can only accept credit card payment through Clickbank our payment processor.
EDIT: I intend to extend the bidding up to February 14, 2002 at 12:00 NOON (+800 GMT). As of this writing the time is 12:47 A.M. February 2, 2002 (+800 GMT). However, I may end the bidding at anytime at my discretion if an amount for my asking has been bid. (I will not reveal the amount I prefer -- just bid and you might be surprised!).
EDIT: I am taking off the image. Sorry. But, it seems that no one is bidding for it. So I might as well take it off to prevent its widespread distribution. If anyone is still interested to get it,
just bid here. A special bonus package awaits the winning bidder. Likewise, you can buy the image for $50.00. Just give me a private message. First come first serve only.
EDIT: The image of the angel is no longer for sell. It will be distributed on our freestuff section later. Sorry for the hassles everyone. Our sincere apologies.
:)
aventure 02-01-2002, 01:32 PM Considering 26 have downloaded it, no replies, and you didn't put a watermark on it. uh ho!
Chicken 02-01-2002, 02:46 PM Downloaded, in this case, means viewed. If it were a .zip file, the descriptiojn would be a bit more fitting.
Incognito 02-01-2002, 03:19 PM Wonder how many places we will see his angel...from persons "Stealing" it.
imago-allan 02-01-2002, 09:32 PM Incognito,
Your nickname seems familiar. It is from a movie "Incognito" where an artist copies the art of famous artists like Rembrandt, up to a point of making people believe that his work is the original! That was a great movie. :)
Hey, I do not imply that you are copying the work of other artists since you bear the name. Ok? Haha!
Back to the topic. Thank you for your concern. When we decide to auction this image off, we already know of possibilities that someone out there might steal it!
But, we have full trust on WHT's members and guests. We believe that as internet professionals we know the issues on respect for copyright. And hey, who would want to steal an angel? (conscience, conscience...)
Anyway, thank you for pointing this out. When the stealing did happen and you buy this image, you are still the original owner and you own the copyright. Let's say we have placed watermark on it. You buy it. Then, you uploaded it on your web site (without the watermark now!). Do you think it will be safe on your website? My point is if people will steal the image, they will steal it, be it here on WHT for viewing or on your website (if you buy it). The only key to this issue is respect for copyright. :)
Now, speaking of digital watermark, it is still a good idea to have it in order to "deter" the stealing although you don't want to put watermark on this lovely image especially on your website which in turn renders it susceptible to stealing!
Who wants to sponsor a free a digital watermark for us? :) We will place something like. "Castlemelody Imagination Studio" then also "Digital watermark by ____________" if that is the case. If this is a possibility and you are selling watermarks, feel free to contact me.
P.S. I still feel that the bidding is still in order. Anyone wants to get the image and have it as his/her own? Do bid now, please. Thank you.
:)
JustinK 02-02-2002, 02:49 AM Just wanted to say I love the angel (can't afford it or do anything with it however, sorry!). I think it'd actually make a really good cupid, and the auction ends right on the perfect date ;D
imago-allan 02-02-2002, 12:01 PM Hi!
Thank you for the praise on the angel, JustinK! Indeed, it is a good candidate for a Cupid. :)
There are a lot of you guys viewing the image already. Now, do I get a bid?
Who wants to bid for $21? Any brave soul out there?
:)
MarcD 02-04-2002, 06:47 AM along the lines of the watermark
about 6 months ago we switched over to digimark
and recieved our first 1,000 embeds free
maybe look and see if any companies still have offers like this
imago-allan 02-06-2002, 11:10 AM Hi MarcD,
Are you talking about digimarc.com? May I have the contact email of the person that you deal with for the sample water marking?
If we are able to secure a digital watermark license, then we could have all our sample images marked.
However, this sample image of an angel does not have a digital watermark on it. If anyone is interested on bidding for it, please do so now, as there is somebody interested to buy it from us here in our local area. While he has not yet make up his mind, you still have the chance. Do I hear a $21 bid, anyone?
Hopefully, by the end of the month, we will be opening our online art auction site. From there you can choose from all the artworks done by our artists. :) This angel thing is just an acid test if there are among you guys who want to bid for art. If there is none, then I may be posting to a wrong target market. (I will keep on looking till I get one).
:)
imago-allan 02-07-2002, 12:22 PM Hi!
I think the newly uploaded image has a water mark in it. Does it? I am not sure. You may want to check it out.
:)
DougBTX 02-07-2002, 02:10 PM May have a watermark on it..though it just looks badly compressed to me

sharkman 02-07-2002, 03:42 PM Nothing personal guys, but what's the big deal with this angel and why would anyone pay for it? when there is so many free images on the net

It is an advertising forum ;)

imago-allan 02-07-2002, 07:16 PM Just my first time doing such water marking. Maybe it is not how it should be. Anyone knows how exactly you do the water marking? When do you apply it? What do you do after applying water marking? Thanks.
Oh by the way, the angel is up for bid because we love it. Well, there may be a lot of free angels on the web too. :) But, this one is just different. And it is precious. If no one is willing to buy it, no problem. It can be bought by somebody here who has expressed some (but not definite) interest. Or it may find its way on our freestuff section soon if that is the case.
:)

imago-allan 02-08-2002, 06:05 AM Guys,
I have removed the image here to prevent unauthorized distribution. I am still learning how to properly water mark an image. It seems that it did not work out the way it should be.
As stated in the first post (as edited), I am selling now the image for $50 which shall include a surprise design package. It is a surprise so don't ask me what it is! :) This is first come first serve. Just give me a private message.
Wishing you all the best from Castlemelody!
:)
LiveTronix 02-08-2002, 08:21 PM I don't understand the logic you are using. Would you walk in a store and buy a picture of an angel you've never seen? I know the internet has some copyright issues but no one is ever going to buy something they've never seen.
My TWO cents
imago-allan 02-08-2002, 10:44 PM Thank you all.
The Castlemelody staff decided not to sell the angel anymore!
It would be better for it to be placed on the free stuff section later.
I would like to apologize for this not so orderly conduct of
transaction. The issue that bothers me on this one is that
of water marking and the possibility that the image was already
downloaded (as in saved) and distributed in other websites.
And thanks for the comments and insights everyone has given.
They will be very valuable in the future transactions to come.
The comments posted by Live Tronix, aventure and Incognito are actually helpful in the sense that it alarms us to also protect our designs. A buyer needs to see the stuff, but the stuff should also be water marked so that it is protected.
Again, thank you everyone. Expect improvements on future transactions.
:)
MODS: Feel free to close this thread. Thank you.
P.S. Just in case some of you were wondering what was that surprise bonus package supposed to be: It was 2 FREE logo designs. But, it is over.
