As an update to an earlier question regarding FC1 vs FC2, I found that our dedicated server provider is unwilling to install FC2, let along FC3. For that reason, I will need to deal with FC1. So now the questions come about managing FC1.
I am not an expert at dealing with Fedora in general. My knowledge is with FreeBSD. So, my questions are simple.
1) What are the major security concerns with FC1 that I should focus on?
2) Where can I get easy updates to FC1?
3) Does anyone know of a discussion board dedicated to FC1?

security concerns with fc1 are the same with any linux distro
in order to harden your box you can apply most of the security topics discussed on this site
2) Where can I get easy updates to FC1?
there are many sources
one is http://fedoralegacy.org/ (unlike freebsd, here you can install updates on the fly using yum/rug up2date etc.)
3) Does anyone know of a discussion board dedicated to FC1?
I didn't search for one, but as fedora is derived fron RedHat there are many similarities with other redhat distributions.
at ev1servers.net there is a forum dedicated to RedHat

I have used yum to update the server currently. Is there a way to run yum without having it prompt to install specific updates? Mainly, I would like to setup a cron job to run updates nightly.

Make sure your yum.conf has the servers you want. Then type "yum update", it should install everything that needs updating.

1. First thing, note that FC1 is EOL ( End of Life ) and has been pushed off to fedoralegacy. Though they have been picking up the slack, fedora legacy should not be depended upon for security software updates. They just arent' quick enough. I would suggest you move off to another OS altogether. If your most familiar with freebsd, thight might be a better idea. Otherwise consider using an enterprise solution such as RHEL or one of the free RHEL rebuilds, such as ww.centos.org.
2. Yum is the best way. Use yum -y update for not prompts.
3. Plenty of places, but you won't find much newer discussion on fedora core 1 as its EOL and most FC users jump to the next version as soon as its released.
