For people who have mod_gzip enabled on their site, I was wondering, how reliable is the technology? I've heard discussions of the occasional pages being displayed corrupted, requiring a reload of the browser to correct. This seems to happen more with longer pages.

Anyhow have any experience with this sort of thing? I would love to take advantage of mod_gzip, but am uncertain about its reliability, especially with lower end browsers (IE4-, NS etc).

mod_gzip supposedly only send gzipped data to browsers that supports it. If it doesn't work, I guess it is 99% something to do with the client's proxy server. In my case, it worked all the time, never heard any complaints yet.

I have never heard of any complaints. We are doing 400K page views per month.
