Hi,

I'm a freelance web designer.
And I'm always offer free hosting and domain (1 year) with my web design quote. I'm using a reseller account for customer domain and hosting.
Most(all) of my customer who use my hosting are just local customer.

Now, I want to start professional web hosting business, my website for hosting business is not online yet.
I'm already read a lot of article, strategy, and idea.
The idea for my plans are:
Plan 1. 50M Space/ 500M bandwith -> $2
Plan 2. 100M Space/ 1G bandwith -> $3
Plan 3. 200M space/ 2G bandwith -> $5
Plan 4. 500M space/ 5G bandwith -> $9
Plan 5. 1000M space/ 10G bandwith -> $17,5

My target market is customers who want to just presence their business online to show information. I think just for personal, home business, and small business, maybe medium business.

I don;t want to compare with other big and experiences hosting company world wide.

Whay do you thing about my hosting plans? Can I compete in the international market?
Or do you have other suggestion about the hosting plan? (not cheap plan)

thanks,

stephen

I dont understand why you want to offer a $2 or $3 plan... way too cheap and no profit after servicing the account and merchant transaction fees are deducted. Not only that, but with your local approach, I fear a low pricng structure may cause potential clients to shy away. My best advice... keep real-world pricing realistic.

If your hosting only costs a couple dollars a month it wont be seen as a great incentive as a free premium for other services.

Most(all) of my customer who use my hosting are just local customer.I would hope if you are dealing with someone locally that they do not view you as a cheap commodity. I think your lower end prices are way too low.

I think just for personal, home business, and small business, maybe medium business.I think you will find that many businesses turn down offers that look too good to be true. Most businesses will gladly pay a fair market value for goods and services, especially those with local support.

My local customer typically pay via bank transfer, not use credit card, and I prefer them to pay annualy.
But you're right, for international client I think I must think different hosting plans and different marketing strategy....

WHT is a great place to learn. Just be careful not to devalue your services to ridiculous low pricing. Better to be seen as offering a fair value for services provided, with great support. If you look around at some sites belonging to the more successful hosts who post here, you will find that they are rarely the cheapest game in town. Good luck :)
