Just curious to find out from people how they're using Procmail. I have accounts with both HostRocket and Aletia, and both appear to use the same system -- my personal directory has a Mail folder, but then with lots of subdirectories (one for each email address in my domain), so I'm not sure where the .procmailrc file should end up. In fact, I'm not even sure if they have Procmail installed, as the same week I applied for a shell account to start reading the man pages and such, they stopped offering shells as a feature.

So what can everyone suggest?

What do you need procmail for? It is a bit complicated for web hosts (or cpanel authors) to support both procmail (or .forward or .qmail) and multiple mailbox for one UNIX user.

I'm using procmail to filter unwanted spam. I get about 2 spam messages every hour of every day. I have a nice set of recipes that reduces that to about 1 spam a day.

I found a company that I think can do this. It appears they're using the same cpanel as the rest, but I got their Java telnet app working and was able to get in and read their procmail man pages. It's solidload.net.

I haven't tried the procmail filter yet, but it looks like what I do is point procmail at my spool, which catches all the email in my domain.

Being able to read procmail's man pages doesn't mean you will be able to use it. Most web hosts use unusual mail server configuration. In your case, I doubt that you can use procmail on your current host.
