Shame on them for passing support requests to this forum instead of helping you. If you were to just ask your PHP question, someone is likely to help you here. Just choose the proper area of the site, like perhaps here:

I suggest you change hosts if they think that WHT is the place to sent their clients for support.

i think that its because its a third party software ie Invision 1.3. Normally they are good but it does have to be directly to do with them
.

Ok here my problem. i have an ivision forum. that does not allow guest browseing. so some of my users are saying after they have logged in. they go to post either a comment or a new thread. they are then returned to the Login Page.

I have tried having my Cookies set to default and set with my servers settings but makes no difference.

Hope some one can help em out,. this has been going on for a few weeks now. i think i am starting to loose some members because of it

cheers

I know people just seem to be bouncing you around, but the best place to find an answer would be the invisionboard support forums @ http://forums.invisionpower.com

If these people are not using the "remember me" option when logging in, so they are just relying on sessions, it "may" just be that your host has a very low session timeout in their configuration, but it sounds more like a simple problem somewhere in the setup of the board.

tried there but they charge a fortune, i have had the site for 2 years and never needed them yet. but i would still have had to pay. so unless its really really last resort i refuse to pay them for giveing my 3 things to get it to work! lol

tight i know....

It's that they don't offer any free support anymore as well as no free version. I feel they've made a large mistake doing so, but it's what they want as a business. It doesn't cost a "fortune", but it *does* cost more than free.
Want a workaround? Sign up for a trial, then ask this of support....maybe that would work for you.

i think that 200.00 is a lot for one question! lol

Trial is free, yearly license is $69, not $200. The higher price is for the "lifetime" license.

If they found out, they could ban him from their forum/support...
They are all but rabid over this issue. Besides, they probably wouldn't even give you an answer on that version, but instead tell you to "upgrade" to the latest. I've seen that answer more than once.

yer i know. it was a bit of a joke sorry,

besides thats a silly answer. what if you dont wanna upgrade

Dump IPB, get vBulletin. They look like they are similarily priced now, and vBulletin has far supperior support and better feature set.

If you go into the Suggestions Aream here though, you will see a drawback(Bad Preformance on Large Sites) but they might be fixing that. Who knows. Other then that, it is teh swank.

but on most of the website Invision board is used ( free versions ) and because invision has so many addon mods and modules

well initially when we started about 2 years ago, invision seemed the best option. more capabilty and very flexable in the way of design and mods. What made it tho was it was free.

we are well happy with it the way it is apart from this bloody problem with some members! very very anoyin.!!
