I have a cable modem connection in my home. Is it possible to connect and run a server for hosting and reselling through my cable line?

Yeah, but not a very good one. I knew some people that did this and it seemed to work alright for them. Guess you would just have to test it out and see. They never let anyone know that they were being hosted on a cable line which was probably a good thing.

So it would run slow then? Do cable companies allow this?

I do not think anyone would host with someone running their server from a cable modem in their home. But, yes, it is possible. Check with your ISP to make sure they allow this sort of thing because many do not allow it.

How slow it runs really depends what you are going to have on the server. SOme cable companies allow this. You will just have to check with your provider.

I have used catalog.com before and they run some pretty good deals at times. I never had any trouble when I hosted with them. I am now looking into hosting with servervault.com. They seem really secure which I like.

what are you doing with yoour catalog.com server? would you be willing to transfer it over? i want one within the week.

cable? What if your provider goes down?

I no longer have my server with catalog.com. I have done business with them in the past though. Right now my servers are being hosted with *****.com but I am in the process of moving them to another company.
