I recently decided to check out *****.net as a webhost. After about a week, I decided they were definately not the host for me (see all posts about *****'s customer service, I had similar experiences)... I've been trying to cancel my account for over a week now and I keep getting the run-around from different people. The last correspondance said that they could not do anything without my domain name. The problem is, I never gave them a domain name and they managed to set up the account! I know they are trying to screw me over and, I don't want to see monthly bills from these guys (I'm charging this with my check card) ... Does anybody have any idea what I might be able to do to keep from getting screwed by these guys? I know I can just change my card number but, I have nightmares of getting a call from collections in a couple of months saying I owe these guys money (which I don't!) ... Any help would be much appreciated.

P.S. Looks like this company's name is editted out of this forum. I should take that as the first bad sign

Phone your cc company and explain the situation. They will block the host from trying to collect monies. :)

If they are non-responsive to your requests, simply call your bank and ask them to decline any urther charges from that merchant. I don't beleive all banks can do this, but maybe your can.
I wouldn't change your card number because of this one incident. Be persistent with them, email them, call them, fax them, send them a letter. I know it seems like a hassle and you shouldn't have to go through this, but it is your money and as such it is worth your time to resolve this.
Thanks,
Patrick

If the name is blocked, how do other people suppose to know who it is?

you expect help without letting us understand what's going on? this is not junior high ( this "guy", but not me, like this girl, but then this girl told the "guy" not to do that. then this "guy" went to a "friend" who told the girl not to). lol. or something.
understand? :puke:

They are censored for forum violations, we do not censor hosts for their off-forum activites. That's their problem, not ours. The name doesn't really matter in some cases, it could be anyone and the question is what to do about it regardless of who it is, etc.
