I am trying to build a site completly off myself. I seem to have trouble making curves, and about every other curve. Can Someone give me a little advice, I am not asking for doing work for me, just help pointing me in the right direction. Practice makes perfect i know. Any help thanks.

I presume you mean rounded edges on boxes etc? If you can get hold of Fireworks you can make rounded corners for rectangle, squares etc. Umm, short of that just make a circle and cut it into the 1/2 or 1/4 you need and place it over the 'square' area.

If you are refering it a line curve it'll depend on what software you use. If it's a vector program like freehand or illustrator you can use paths. A bitmap program like photoshop (to use an example) can be done by just using making a round selection, and going to edit > stroke and then cutting out the area you don't need.

Umm, did that help at all? :)

if you're looking for a cheaper alternative you might want to try Paintshop Pro. http://www.jasc.com It's a pretty professional program now for the price and has a lot of features.

Of course it won't have the grunt of Adobe or Macromedia products but it's a good little unit :) I'm *pretty sure* it does rounded edges - the website should tell you.

I'll stick my oar in here on behalf of PaintShop Pro. It's just about all I use for routine web work -- and, IMHO, much less cumbersome and much easier to use than many more expensive packages.

The newest version has added quite a nice batch of features, as well.

Well I downloaded Fireworks, one word, WOW!!!, But i think i may wait to Fireworks 4 comes out like it said on the web site.

Although I am looking at paint shop pro 6. for like 100 dollars compared to 400 looks really good.

I think the latest version is PaintShop Pro 7.0... and if you shop it on the software sites, you should be able to get it for well under $100.

PSP 7 is absolutely superb - I had a play around on the beta 2 version and it's astonishing what you get for about $100. I've got PSP6 so I won't be upgrading in a hurry but if the need arises I'll definitely shell out the money for the upgrade.

Chris (TCG), if you still have trouble doing rounded corners, do a search on http://www.sitepointforums.com and you'll find quite a few resources for doing them properly in a variety of forums.
