I am considering starting my own hosting biz and as I was looking around at what was on offer I came across this company. they seem to have very good offers but I am having difficulty understanding it. Has anyone heard of this company . Anyone using them.

Take a look at their http://www.host2own.com/servers/hservers/hservers.html packages. The first one looks interesting. $250 setup. $100 a month and you own the server after 24 months. Also if you scroll down to the bottom of the page it talks about bandwidth.

2.6 Terabits of data transfer per month for $100/month. That makes it $200 a month. Whats the catch. what am I missing??

My experience with Host2Own/Cari.net/SDColo.com is that their service is extremely good. The connectivity has always been excellent and the downtime virtually non-existent. They have both a ticket system and excellent phone support.

That said, I am not overly impressed with their Java control panel they have developed for their Unix boxes. Compared to others, it is quite limited, although it is an excellent comparative panel to Cobalt which is where they built their business.

Also, their bandwidth is billed on a 95% basis-not actual (unless it has changed and I missed it). So, if you are a high bandwidth user their pricing becomes a little less attractive.

ronan675, you have a PM

They did not develop it. It was developed by Threshhold Networks. TNs created a web hosting appliance to compete with Cobalt. As you can tell, it didn't go well. Cari.net used that CP and changed it to "iBiz Control panel" when it failed.

Acquired the better word. They were going to go with Professo, but changed in mid-stream.

divide by 8 to get bytes, so about 325 GB, or roughly about 1 Mbps as mentioned on the site.
