I seen a post about the X10 camera, but what about NetFlix.com, is it me or does there seem to be a bunch of them dumb ads all over the place?

I am a NetFlix customer, which I am pretty impressed with them, but jeez, the ads are driving me nuts.

Actually, I was thinking pretty much the same thing the other day when I encountered yet another NetFlix popunder. I'm a customer too, by the way.

But I don't think it's nearly as bad as X10... and it seems at least that the NetFlix ads tend to be on sites that are at least somewhat related, at least when I've encountered them. imdb.com, for example.

Opt out of x10 ads by going here:

I've been looking at signing up for netflix (just got my dvd player 2 weeks ago) and haven't been able to get these questions answered:

1) When DVDs are released everywhere else, are they available on the same day on netflix too?

2) Are DVDs ever unavailable?

3) Are foreign or "indie" dvds available?

Netflix has always given me the run around...so i dunno...

Does anyone know of any other companies out there that provide a similar service?

1) Yep. Der Krieger und die Kaiserin is in the mail on the way to me now. Released on the 29th.

2)I suppose, but it's never happened for me.

3) Yep. Besides the above-mentioned Tykwer film, in the past few weeks I've watched The Color of Paradise, Croupier, Time Code... any time I haven't found something available that I wanted to see, I haven't been able to find any evidence that it's even been released on dvd.

Unless you watch a lot of movies, it's probably more expensive than just renting them. But it's nice not to have to worry about returning them before their overdue -- that's the biggest plus for me, because lots of times I think I'm going to watch a movie but something else comes up. That plus the size of the selection makes it worth the cost for me.

I just sign up last Friday, I had two of movies in my mailbox Monday, and the 3rd Tuesday. They only allow three out at a time.

I was pretty impressed with the whole program.

However if you expect to get 3-4 movies per week for $20 you'll be disappointed. I can get maybe 10 and if real lucky 12 per month. I even try to watch the movies the same night I receive them and send them back the next day.

Don't get me wrong, I still use them, and enjoy the wide variety of titles. But I didn't want you to get your hopes up to the quantity of DVDs that you'll receive per month.

I know there's a limit, but I figure if i request 1 DVD on sun night, 1 on mon, 1 on tues, then i should have dvds in the house by wed, thurs, and fri nights

the wed dvd would be returned, fri, and a new one requested....the loop goes on and on...

Confused? So am I

I'll get it worked out somehow....

But if you return the wed dvd on friday, they'll get it on tuesday (sticking with your three days in transit schedule - which is a little optimistic, sometimes it's taken more for me, and sometimes they've sent the next one a day after they've notified that they've received the one it's replacing) so you're a couple of days behind. I think Cary's right, it'd be hard to get 3 movies a week.

But that's the basic plan; you can also pay for plan upgrades to have as many as eight movies at a time.

Whoops! forgot about return time.....

actually my neighbors both subscribe to netflix so we're just using this as a way to get extra movies at a time :D

They get their movies 2 days after they request them.....so i'm optimistic
