View Full Version : Sites out and on
Hi,
I have a reseller account in a host, a lot of times my clients told me they cannot open their site (they got a unfounded page), some one I can open in my computer, some one I cannot open too... I asked my host enable their IP rang on the firewall do server, sometime it works, sometimes not...
Now I meet the same problem with my site (on the same server), when I was working in my webmail and whm, itīs fine... suddenly, I meet a not founded page... then I cannot open webmail, cpanel, whm, and site... (I can open with IP: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/webmail)...
I asked my host enable my IP range, it did not works, after about 4 hours, it worked again, but this morning, I got the same problem again...
Some one can help me? What is the possible problem, and how I can do with it? (In fact, I have anothers resellers accounts and did not meet this kind of problem...)
Thank you...
Shaw
Captian_Spike 11-04-2004, 12:59 PM I would say this is a serios problem with your host and you should consider looking for another. I would get on thier case and demand an explination.
Its either thier server going down (or even just apache crashing), the server being under much to high a load causing it to start refusing connections. Or it could be the network they are connected to isn't very good.
Its most likely the first. Next time you cannot access the website go to http://www.alertra.com/ and do a spot check. This will tell you if there servers are up or not.
Thank you u2mike,
Maybe you are right...
Some one of the host changed something on firewall (I did not know what), and I can see my site again... just the owner of host just told me his server has zero download and the problema is my ISP... I did not understando why when I was working in my webmail and WHM, and suddenly I lost connecttion, and the problem is my ISP... I use "easymonitor" which let me know there are four down time in the last week, althrough there are more than two monthes without any down time report...
The datacenter is thePlanet...
Maybe I have to look for another host, just I have a lot of clients with small disk space and band usage (many of them just use emails)...
Some one can told me some good host with overselling?
Thank you,
Shaw
Yapluka 11-04-2004, 04:42 PM Did you test your DNS settings with http://dnsreport.com/ ?
Yes, I just test my NS1 and NS2, they are OK, in fact, almost all of my clients use my NSs, not NSs of my host; sometimes, I can see the sites of my clients, but cannot open my site (all of them are on the same server...)
cartika-andrew 11-04-2004, 07:19 PM Hi Shaw,
This issue does seem like it "could be" ISP related. If your host has been good and they have offered good support - maybe see if anything else could be causing the issue before changing providers. The ISP issue is suspicious, especially if your customers, all presumably on different ISP's are seeing the same thing - but - best to make sure before doing anything drastic. Migrating all your customers and your own nameservers is a bit of work - so, make sure the problem is with the host and not going to follow you before you take this on.
Hope this helps....
Thank you Cartika,
In fact I did not know exactly what is the problem, so I asked help here...
Now I am working fine with my site, AFTER THE SUPPORT TOLD ME HE DID SOME CHANGES ON THE FIREWALL OF THE SERVER... I did not know what was done, but I am fine now...
My problem is I have lost some clients as they told me they paid, but they cannot see their sites and emails, and I really did not know how to say to them and how to resolver the problema, I cannot ask them to change their ISP just as they have a site with mim, as the owner of the host suggested to mim, and I am not sure if they change ISP they will see their sites or emails...
I know itīs not a easy thing to migrating all the customers from one to another, maybe my error is let a lot of clients on one host...
Your words are very helpful to me, Iīll take much care about it... I am looking the best way to go...
Thank you again...
Shaw
