View Full Version : Getting 5.5 Mbps average weekly transfer from RackShack's server
dabystru 01-30-2002, 04:39 PM Here is transfer speed from one of my RackShack's servers: weekly average of 5.5 Mbps (i.e. more than 50 GB a day or >1500 GB a month). Anyone to beat it?
saburovo.com/usage.php?server_ip=64.246.6.22
Looking at the spikes in the graph, I think the server can do more. This traffic, by the way, created by one site - download.dragonbfp.com.

So how much do you have to pay for greater than 1500 gigs of bw?
RackMy.com 01-30-2002, 05:28 PM We have a customer who pushes out 20-30 Mbps out of their one boxes (Dell Poweredge 900 w/ 256 MB RAM & W2K) :)

But I am a smart fellow ;) I move the download part of the site from one server to another. Of 28 servers I have with RS 5 are not resold at the moment, so I still have some flexibility.
Anatole 01-30-2002, 05:35 PM Saburovo - sounds familiar to me? Living in Moscow?
100mb.ru is over 13Mbps average now, he-he
You need to grow a bit :D

dektong 01-30-2002, 06:17 PM This 5.5mbps is weekly? So, 22mbps/mo ... Not bad at all :)
On the other hand, I would not give my IPs of all my servers to the public ... That's not such a good decision ;)
cheers,

No. mbps=mega bits per second so its a rate it doesn't accumulate. so thats still 5.5mbps weekly, or per second still.
dektong 01-30-2002, 06:29 PM Yea, of course ... my mind just went blank .... :emlaugh:
cheers,

I prefer ide for storage of all my music =)
ckpeter 01-30-2002, 10:09 PM I think he is referring to other discussions on WHT about IDE vs SCSI, and how your server proves that IDE is just as able as SCSI.

sprintserve 02-17-2003, 03:35 AM There are hosts that I can push 30mbit/s consistently 24/7. But I shan't name them. :)
apollo 02-17-2003, 12:51 PM well apache does cache good :)
WII-Aaron 02-17-2003, 01:02 PM I think I have you all beat. :)

sprintserve 02-17-2003, 01:32 PM Aaron is rich too :D I wonder at his bandwidth bills.
RackMy.com 02-17-2003, 01:55 PM What about this one?

Heh, It used to pump out a constant 65Mbits before I capped it. And that's just one machine. I have others that pump out 10-20Mbits. (also capped)
