Does anyone know if I can register 2 ips per domain name. What I want is... if the first ip is down to forward to the second ip, something similar to mx.

Is it possible to have such a service and if so what's it called?

I do a dns failover with dnsmadeeasy and this is also done with zoneedit.

Today when Savvis was down, my site moved over to my failover site, seemed to work well, I had a lot of traffic on the failover site, so it seemed to work.

What they do is monitor your site, when it goes down it changes your dns record to the failoversite, you have a small TTL to help make this work.

So as far as I am concerned, it was worth my money today. It is not instant, I believe it took 2-3 minutes to move over my traffic but for a 1.5 hr downtime, it worked for me.
