View Full Version : iBook - anyone got one?
theNonsuch 11-25-2000, 02:41 AM Hi there -
I'm looking at purchasing a laptop, and am probably (but not definitely) going to stick with Macs - more because the Mac's seem to be a better deal price-wise and feature wise than most of the PC laptops I've looked at.
I'm leaning towards the iBook 466SE, but I haven't been able to find anyone that owns one... my journalist friends are pushing me to by one of the new Powerbooks, but they're around $1000 more than the ibook... so I'm unsure.
Anyone got any experiences to share with either?
Neil
P.S. And Pul-eeze, no Mac bashing posts - I don't want to go there...

superbird 11-26-2000, 07:19 PM for christs sake. I was quite impressed with this forum til now. anyone got any useful opinions I'm considering as well
etLux 11-26-2000, 07:23 PM I think most would consider the purchase of the iBook perhaps ill-advised; however, theNonsuch has requested we do not bash his choice in this -- and we respect his wishes. The result is, little of use.
superbird 11-26-2000, 07:28 PM no, he asked for no bashing of Macs per se, not of that particular model. bash away on the iBook, I'm genuinely interested in problems with it apart from the original ones being grossly underpowered which I know about.
Chicken 11-26-2000, 11:47 PM Superbird, if no one posts, that means no one knows. Everyone I know runs PC laptops, not MAC.

Those engaged in site development and most other areas of Internet work overwhelmingly favor PC's over MAC's, for the emminently practical reason that the vast majority of Internet users do.
[A fast check of our combined site logs over the last million hits or so shows Windows at 90.14%, Macintosh at 1.89%, and the remainder a mixture of a dozen or so other operating systems.]
As the MSIE browser and Windows operating system are very strongly predominant, it only makes sense to work to those standards as primary.
superbird 11-27-2000, 09:48 AM Chicken, a lot of people would be intimidated from posting in a thread full of stupid replies. Don't bother patronising me, I know the statistics perfectly well. I also know I get on fine doing the work on my far more reliable Mac and then testing it on my PC and I sure ain't superhuman, so I'm very sorry for assuming I'm not the only one.
