I know this isn't new news, but I haven't seen this posted here, so I thought some would enjoy.
affinity has been purchasing alot of hosting companies, Skynetweb was purchased just a year ago, as well as a whole bunch of littler firms.

That being the most recent merger, the sum came out much worse than the parts...and interland has run throngs of Hostpro customers away.
Certainly Affinity and Cybergate are major players and just by their size and marketing expenditure are very strong competitors. However, I believe their size also works against them when it comes down to a head to head comparison of services and value. And, if this is like any other hosting merger there will be problems and disruption.
We shall see.

I saw a couple of days ago that AT&T is getting out of the "small business hosting" market. I can't seem to find the article now though.
