View Full Version : Who is better in support ? Dinix or Servint ?
Scout 11-03-2004, 02:42 AM Hello,
Im a reseller with no background experience in WHM (root access) Im hoping to sign up with either (Dinix or Servint) for there VPS Reseller Package. But I want to be sure that I can have the support that is actually "helpful" and not the "run-around" type, since I assume I will be going thru the learning curve, and I need to ask a lot of questions....
Anyone here can give me there vote?
Thanks
Scout
net-trend 11-03-2004, 02:52 AM I think they both should be equally good in terms of support. Assuming you are using WHM/cPanel, you only need to master a few things which can be learnt easily.
Most of the time, you might not even have to touch SSH at all.

Do you have first hand experience of both companies?
net-trend 11-03-2004, 03:07 AM I have first hand experience with ServInt and not Dinix. Hence, the "I think".
niyogi 11-03-2004, 03:14 AM Hi Scout:
Not that these forums aren't helpful or anything but I think what you'll find is a lot of speculation based on "I think" or somebody who has experience with one but not both.
Which one are you leaning towards?

Scout 11-03-2004, 03:22 AM Im thinking of dinix because of there features... and I talked to there support before and it sounded good.
But I am receiving stronger reports of good support from servint... not to mention they offer a larger size in terms of server space....
So im kind of in the middle of things... :)
net-trend 11-03-2004, 03:24 AM Just send a support request to those 2 companies and judge for yourself. If Dinix support sounded good when you talked to them, talk to the people at servint for yourself as well and weigh that out.
Captian_Spike 11-03-2004, 03:36 AM Both companies have great support, I would suggest going with the one that has the features that suit your needs best.
Jim_UK 11-03-2004, 04:40 AM In terms of support, ServInt is better.
In terms of VPS performance, ServInt is better (just take a look at their hardware specs).

That is not true. ServInt could be putting more VPSes on their more powerful boxes which in turn may make each VPS slower than a light loaded "not-so-powerful" box.

Here, I'm assuming you have used both Dinix and ServInt before? I've only used ServInt before and can only say their support is quick to reply.

Yes. Direct experience of approx 1 year with Dinix and over 2 years with ServInt.
ldcdc 11-03-2004, 02:08 PM Yes. Direct experience of approx 1 year with Dinix and over 2 years with ServInt.What websites you have with them?
 Just kidding Jim... I simply couldn't restrain myself.

Ah Yes, but Jim has his own VPS supply so why would he use another company like Servint ? ;)
ldcdc 11-03-2004, 09:00 PM Ah Yes, but Jim has his own VPS supply so why would he use another company like Servint ?To learn more about his competition maybe. :)
Nick, Jim, I'm just joking. I have no wish to turn into a "wise guy". No hard feelings please...
To tell you the truth, I find Jim's assesment very valuable (and on hindsight, my joke to be out of line a bit). It's not often that you get a knowledgeable, esteemed person like Jim, to make a comparison between two reputable hosts, based on years of experience with them.
Props to Jim for coming forward with this info.

We got our first ever dedicated server with ServInt around Sept-Oct 2002 (when we didn't operate 24/7 and the monitoring from them was invaluable as was their support to this day). A lot of 'managed' providers (see the inverted commas there?) could learn a whole lot from them.
And yes, before you ask, I have direct experience with their VPS platform too.
nickn 11-03-2004, 09:36 PM I was kidding with you too Dan... ;)
Gen-T 11-03-2004, 09:47 PM Bunch of wise guys in this thread.... :stickout: ;)
ldcdc 11-03-2004, 09:54 PM This the "Wise Hosting Talk" forum, right? :D
Thanks for the additional info Jim.
And Nick... I'm glad that you were joking. I wouldn't want to get on your bad side considering the green title you have under your "nick". :D

ldcdc 11-03-2004, 10:52 PM Hehehe! :D
Scout 11-04-2004, 11:14 AM Well, servint seems to have the better review in support... But I tried to ask them questions and its been two days now and they have not replied back yet...
Is there sales support usually this slow?
Huh- seems odd. I'll admit, I just called pre-sales when I wanted to check out ServInt. Picked up on the 3rd ring, no putting me on hold, and we chatted a good half an hour. I'd say give them a call during posted business hours- it's an 800 number.
