View Full Version : CP with NO images required?

Hi,

In my limited experience with web hosts, I have found that using the provided control panel (CP) requires images to be enabled in my browser settings. Perhaps I am just particular, but I would prefer to be free of this restriction. I have been searching the Internet for information on the available CPs regarding this particular requirement, but have found no results. Of those few hosts which I have contacted, they have required images for their CPs. Is this a "feature" of most (or all?) easy to use CPs?

Now that my employer is looking to move to a dedicated server, I would like to find a host that uses a CP without the image requirement, with out contacting every host!

Currently the sites I am working with use ASP (ChiliSoft or Sun Active Server Pages) and MySQL ... Linux hosting isn't a requirement, but it is usually cheaper.

So, can anyone tell me which CPs do *not* require images to be enabled, so I can find and recommend a preferred host to my employer? Thanks ...

Most all control panels ( eg. cPanel, ensim, directadmin, etc. ) allow you to custom develop your own "skin". I don't know of any commercially available imageless skins for any, however you could contract someone to create one for you, or do it yourself.

I really wouldn't make a decission on what platform and or control panel to use based on your requirements of no images.

(Note: The images requirement is related in particular to the session cookie process, where setting the session cookie fails when images are disabled, and not for use of images in general -- though I don't see why I would need images in general either)

For anyone that cares, I have had the opportunity to use 2 other control panels that do not require images and work just fine without them. cPanel is the only one so far that I have found that requires them.

Plesk has a feature which turns allows graphics switched off. Also disabling image loading on Opera browser allows me to browse through the control panel with no problems.

web-cp doesn't require that images be on (and an image-less skin would be easy to create).

Cpanel works fine without images in links.

However, if you really want it to be image-free, try webmin. With a custom skin, you can disable all images.
